Here's how The Lancashire Telegraph scored the players' performances, with a six representing par for the course.

BALAZS TOTH – 7

Didn’t have much to do for large spells, and couldn’t have done much about the opener, but made a couple of important saves in quick succession after the equaliser.

RYAN ALEBIOSU – 7

Denied by a decent save early on after a typical bursting run from deep, but kept working hard throughout the contest.

TOM ATCHESON – 8

Made a couple of important blocks and continues to look assured in the backline despite his lack of experience in senior football.

SEAN McLOUGHLIN – 8

Won some important headers and got a vital touch on Brittain’s header across goal in the opening stages.

HARRY PICKERING – 7

Provided a pinpoint cross for the equaliser and would have had another assist for Morishita if not for some heroic defending.

SAM MORSY – 8

An excellent full debut from the experienced midfielder, who carried out plenty of important work out of possession and showed a few moments of quality on the ball.

KRISTI MONTGOMERY – 7

Worked hard alongside Morsy and made some good challenges, but maybe could have done better with his chance before the break.

RYOYA MORISHITA – 7

So unlucky with his volley cleared off the line, having made a sweet connection, and regularly dropped back to support Alebiosu.

TODD CANTWELL – 8

Had to be patient for opportunities to make his mark in the final third but took his big moment when it came with a clinical header.

DAPO AFOLAYAN – 7

Like Mori, worked hard to support Pickering when Rovers were under the cosh and had a few bright moments driving with the ball.

ANDRI GUDJOHNSEN – 8

Isolated at times in the first half but looked bright when Rovers managed to get bodies around him, and took his goal superbly.

SUBSTITUTES

JAYDEN FEVRIER (Morishita, 60’) – 7

A fantastic experience for his Ewood Park debut and linked up well with Alebiosu to help relieve pressure in the latter stages.

MATHIAS JORGENSEN (Afolayan, 60’) - 7

Good to see the attacker back on the pitch after a disrupted pre-season due to injury.

ADAM FORSHAW (Morsy, 69’) – 7

The perfect player to bring on in that situation with his experience and leadership qualities.

YUKI OHAHSI (Gudjohnsen, 69’) – 7

Might have only been on the pitch for 20 minutes but still ran his socks off to help Rovers defend from the front.

HAYDEN CARTER (Cantwell, 80’) – 7

Given the tough task of slotting into the backline for the latter stages as Rovers were trying to hold on, but did a commendable job.

UNUSED: PEARS, RIBEIRO, GARRETT, TAVARES
