Wolves boss Cesar Peixoto was left with mixed emotions after his side’s late draw against Rovers at Molineux.

It looked like Peixoto’s tenure would begin with a defeat until Raul Jimenez’s penalty in stoppage time.

“It's one point, not what we want,” said the Wolves boss. “We want the three points. But I think in the first half we were better, we created more chances.

“In the second half, we conceded the goal and the team lost some organisation. We played more with the heart than with the head and the brain. It's a lesson for us for the future.

“We have to stay with mental stability during the 90 minutes because when we stay like that, we organise, we are better.

“But in the end, after we lost Yerson (Mosquera to injury), we scored. The draw is not the result we want, but it's a point for us.”

Rovers caused Wolves plenty of problems in the final third, with Sean McLoughlin and Andri Gudjohnsen getting on the scoresheet either side of half time.

“It's normal in this time of the season, not everything is 100 per cent,” Peixoto added. “It's something we have to work on, it's something we have to improve.

“It's a game to analyse, watch and talk with the players to improve, to see what we did not do well.

“I think we played more with the heart. The heart is important, not to give up for the 90 minutes, but we have to play in our way, with our identity we want to create in the club.

“I think sometimes the players lost the organisation because they want to win the game, but not in a better way.

“We have to stay with mental stability during the 90 minutes, not only for 60 minutes or something like that.”

Wolves have been tipped as one of the early favourites to make an immediate return to the Premier League.

When asked if the draw was a ‘wake up call’ about the difficulty of the Championship, the head coach replied: “The players know that. We have to attack the ball.

“The players stay well in the right position but after you have to attack the ball and stay more aggressive with the ball.

“But it's something to work on during the week with the players. The team have to improve a lot to do better in this kind of situation. But I also think we are better than Blackburn because we created more chances to score.”
