Blackburn Rovers have completed the signing of Tino Goremusandu, who has signed his first professional contract after leaving Southampton.
The young full-back has signed a two-year deal with the option of a further 12 months. He joins Finley Taylor as another addition for the Academy, who joined on the same terms from Brighton & Hove Albion last week.
Goremusandu also spent time on trial with Rovers' Under-21s at the end of last season and has now committed his future to the club.
A left-sided player, the 18-year-old featured in the semi-final of the Premier League Cup for Rovers and is now looking to continue his development at Ewood Park.
“It’s a proud moment for me and my family,” the youngster told RoversTV.
“I came on trial here towards the end of last season and did well, so I’m grateful to sign a professional contract here.
“I enjoyed the setup here when I first came and I wanted to make a statement. It’s a step in the right direction and I want to kick on now.
“When Rovers said they wanted me on trial, it was a no-brainer when you look at the setup and the pathway towards the first team.
“This season, I want to kick on with the Under-21s and get as many minutes as I can, get goals and assists.
“The ultimate goal is to train with the first team if I impress with the Under-21s.”
Rovers have been proactive in recruiting for their Academy in recent seasons and their clear pathway to the first team is a major attraction for young talent looking to find their way in the professional game.
Goremusandu is delighted to have the opportunity to now develop in an environment geared for young talent.
"It's something I have been working towards since I was little" he added.
"It feels very special. Three years ago, I was playing Sunday league so to get a professional contract is a massive achievement.
"I wanted to come here because they offer opportunities to young players. It was a no-brainer for me."
