Dion De Neve is hoping for a better season at Blackburn Rovers after a 'mentally testing' debut campaign.
The Belgian winger struggled in his first year in England. Though there were flashes of good moments, De Neve struggled with the physicality of the Championship and couldn't nail down a place in the team.
It's a clean slate under Tony Mowbray and De Neve was heavily involved in Rovers' opening goals against Barnsley. It was his crosses from the left that were turned in by Matty Litherland and Andri Gudjohnsen.
"It's very important to get our legs going and get some minutes," De Neve told RoversTV.
"For me personally, I want to step up from last season. I want to be more important for the team. Create more than last year.
"I want to create chances, get assists, score goals. We have a new gaffer and everyone wants to impress him. I think I have a lot more to give."
"I have been here for a year now and everyone knows my quality now," he added.
"My first year was an emotional rollercoaster and mentally testing. I feel great now and I am good with everyone in the team.
"I arrived here and I knew nobody. I moved into an empty apartment but now it feels like home. I think that will help me a lot because I have a better connection with the players, the staff, Manchester and Blackburn."
