Stanley have announced the signing of goalkeeper Louie Moulden on a season-long loan from Norwich City.
The 24-year-old has had loan spells Solihull Moors, Rochdale and Northampton. He played 12 games in League One for the latter during the 2023/24 campaign.
Moulden started out in Manchester City's Academy before heading to Wolves in 2021. He was signed by Crystal Palace in 2024 and made the move to Carrow Road 12 months later.
The shot stopper was born nearby in Farnworth and his dad, Paul Moulden, previously played for the club.
"We obviously needed to fill that position and once we knew Louie was available, he ticked every box. There was a number of clubs after him but we had done our homework on him, and we are pleased and excited we have got him," manager John Doolan told the club site.
"A couple of people recommended Louie to us and Matt Gilks had done some work on him. We did our background checks along with Matt, and we liked what we saw.
"He is a proper keeper, good with his feet and his hands, comes for crosses, he is brave, and that's why he is at Norwich and why a number of clubs were after him from our league and the league above."
Moulden becomes the Reds' fourth signing of the summer as preparations ramp up for the new League Two season.
"I started playing when I was seven in various academies. I spent time at a whole host of National League North and South loans, along with the National League, and I played in League One most recently at Northampton Town," he added.
"I am off the back of a couple of years inactivity, but I am raring to go. My family were keen for me to get back playing.
"My dad used to play for Accrington Stanley and I had the experience of playing here on trial under John Coleman, so it got me excited.
"I was keen to get in somewhere quickly where I will play, I had a connection with Matt Gilks through my family. He came with high recommendations and, after speaking to him, I felt it was the right step.
"I am really keen to get out on the pitch, work with a good goalkeeping coach and a good group. It ticked a lot of boxes for me, I have got a good feel for the club."
