After the doom and gloom of two successive play-off defeats for Ramsbottom United, ahead of the new season, things are looking much brighter both on and off the pitch.

Work has already begun on a spruce-up of the stadium, as well as on the pitch itself, as a result of Chairman Harry Williams, 60 years after helping to launch the club, forming a new committee to help out with the various tasks of running a non-league club both on matchdays and during the week, combined with looking at options to increase the club’s revenues.

Throughout June, supporters are invited down to assist with the many jobs required to make the Riverside Stadium a cleaner, brighter and more attractive venue.

Repairing, painting and cleaning are the main tasks, and as such, four days have been earmarked for fans to come along and help out, with a bacon butty and a drink offered as a thank you!

It began last Saturday followed by Sunday 14, Saturday, 20 and Sunday, 28, between 10am and 1pm.

Supporters and volunteers need just turn up and if they have additional brushes, cloths and sweeping brushes, then all the better!

Last weekend, new boss, Rob Henry popped along to the Riverside Stadium where supporters had an opportunity to discuss plans and hopes for the new season.

Henry, along with his new coaching team of Richard Thomas and Ste Ryan, helped with the tidying up, ahead of their first training session on Saturday.

He is well on the way to putting together a squad for the new season which he feels will be more than capable of pushing for that elusive promotion spot. A number of last season's players will be staying with the Rams, but Henry is excited at the prospect of blending them with some new talent and one or two older heads.

Supporters can expect news of the new squad once the formalities have been completed on July 1.

Volunteers can also put their names forward to assist on match days with the various duties of stewarding, car-park attending, selling golden goal tickets, and raffles, as the Rams look forward to what they hope will be a successful and entertaining campaign.
