Valerien Ismael was proud of his Rovers side in their 1-1 draw at Wrexham but labelled the late free kick decision a “disgrace”.
Ismael’s side had led for most of the game at the Racecourse Ground after Andri Gudjohnsen’s clinical header.
But the hosts hit back in stoppage time after Rovers failed to deal with the set piece out on the right.
“I'm always proud of my players. I think that we made another consistent, strong away performance,” said Ismael.
“I think we should score the second one earlier in the game. In the first half we have some big chances, but especially in the second half with Yuki.
“After that it was a fight, it's tough to come here. Nonetheless, we defended well and we conceded the last free kick. First of all, it's a disgrace that the referee gave that free kick.
“The Wrexham player came to me at the end of the game and said it was not a free kick. Everyone saw it was not a free kick and I don't know why the linesman can give that free kick.
“It's tough to take the decision. We have to defend well the set-pieces, so it's frustrating for that. Otherwise, it's a point.
“We take the point, for sure. As I said, strong opponent, tough away game. Not a lot of teams come here and take points. You have to fight for your points.
“I would have preferred to concede the goal earlier in the second half because they have two big chances to score, but this is football.”
Kristi Montgomery was absent from the squad due to an ankle injury, and Ismael confirmed that he will miss “five weeks”.
It is another blow in midfield after Sondre Tronstad’s injury, but it meant an opportunity for Adam Forshaw in the starting line-up.
“He was brilliant,” the head coach added. He brought the composure, the calm on the ball we had with Sonny.
“When Sonny was not playing we were missing. I think Taylor tried to do it, Kristi tried to do it but not ready to get the job done.
“Forsh made it perfectly. It was just the case to give him time so that he can play a little bit longer. Now we will see, it was tough for him at the end but he made it well.”
Rovers had been hoping to welcome Todd Cantwell back to the squad, but the fixture ultimately came too soon for the skipper.
When asked when he will be back available, Ismael replied: “It can be tomorrow, it can be in one week.
“I will prepare (for Ipswich) with the players I’ve got and if he’s coming around the corner and saying, ‘I’m ready’, I will be happy.
“He's frustrated because he's still feeling something. He can train with consistency but he still feels something.
“Toddy is a player who needs to be right in his mind. I told him, ‘You to be 100 per cent and not 80 per cent and thinking about your injury’. That’s why it takes too long.
“But now it’s too much because you see seven, eight players, potential regular starters for us, it’s tough. We manage well at the minute but I could use some players back as soon as possible.”
