Valerien Ismael believes that Rovers’ abandoned game against Ipswich Town will become a “precedent case” for the EFL.
The pitch was deemed unplayable after around 80 minutes, with the hosts leading 1-0 and Ipswich down to 10 men.
The head coach believes it has highlighted a “grey area” in the rules and admits it is difficult to know what the outcome will be.
“I think it's a general problem, it's a deep problem,” he told RoversTV. “There are no rules, it's a grey area. It puts the integrity of the football in danger because everyone can speculate on anything at any game and try to stop any game.
“I'll just take the example in France, it's a clear rule. If the game has to be interrupted, abandoned, you will play on the next game and you play the remaining minutes, so it's a clear rule for everyone.
“Now it's just room for speculation, for influence. It's difficult to know what will be the outcome, but I think that it's a case everyone has to take very seriously because this case will be, for sure, a precedent case.”

Ismael maintains that Rovers are justified in wanting the three points given the game situation when play was stopped.
The boss cited the recent Norwich defeat as an example of how difficult it can be for sides chasing games when down to 10 men.
“I think that it's clear that when you are 1-0 up, down to 10 for the opponent, we've got the momentum,” he added.
“Yes, on one hand they can score a goal. But on the other hand, what is right for Ipswich is right for us, so we have the possibility as well to score the goal.
“We faced this situation against Norwich. We were down to 10, we were pushing. The feeling was there that we can score and we conceded a goal, 2-0 at the end and we lost the game.
“So I think, for us, we've got the right to want the three points on that situation because I think that it's the fair thing to do.
“Especially when the opponent is down to 10 – 11-11 is another situation but this situation was clear.”
Despite the ongoing situation, Ismael’s focus is firmly on Saturday’s trip to Charlton as Rovers aim to pick up more points on the road.
The squad head to the capital on the back of away wins against Hull City and Watford in recent weeks.
Charlton also enter the game in high spirits following a late victory at Sheffield United thanks to Isaac Olaofe’s winner.
The Addicks have made a positive start to life back in the Championship, taking eight points from their opening six games, and currently sit 12th in the table.
It is Rovers’ first trip to the Valley since February 2020 when John Buckley and Tosin Adarabioyo were both on target.
