Blackburn Rovers secured back-to-back Championship away wins as Ryoya Morishita's first goal earned a 1-0 win at Watford.
Valerien Ismael's side responded to defeat before the international break with a deserved three points at his former club. It backs up their impressive 3-0 victory on the road at Hull City last month.
Morishita was the match winner on his full debut for Rovers. The Japanese forward collected a clever flick from Yuki Ohashi and showed good composure to slot in what turned out to be the winner.
The summer signing had already rattled the crossbar in the first half after letting fly with a swerving strike from range. It crashed back off the woodwork and to safety, from a Watford view.
Todd Cantwell was denied by an excellent save from Watford's Egil Selvik as Rovers turned the screw. The game was there for the taking at half-time with Watford not at the races.
It took two minutes of the second half for Ismael's side to take advantage. Morishita capped a lovely team move by finding the corner.
Rovers held on with relative comfort. Though the Hornets tried to find an equaliser, Balazs Toth was relatively untested.
Watford started the match the brighter of the two sides, with Toth's blushes spared early on after a missed punch. Despite having the ball, the Hornets didn't force Rovers' goalkeeper into action and the away side worked their way into the game.
Rovers came closest to find the net after Morishita's strike dipped, swerved and came back off the crossbar. The Japanese forward one of three changes by Ismael and almost opened the scoring on his full debut.
Blackburn continued to carry a threat and created another good opportunity shortly after. Sidnei Tavares' lovely cross-field ball found Ryan Alebiosu, who crossed for Cantwell who forced a great save from Selvik.
Ismael's side continued to probe and applied pressure, though Watford carried a threat on the break. Mamadou Doumbia could've done better with a cutback inside the box but fired over.
At half-time, the game felt as though it was there to be won and it took less than two minutes for Rovers to get ahead after the restart.
It was their two Japanese internationals who linked up, with Ohashi flicking the ball into the path of Morishita's run which allowed him to find the corner. It sent the away fans into raptures, who were right behind the strike.
Rovers managed the game well and faced little more than pressure in the final 30 minutes. They defended their box magnificently, restricting the hosts to very few chances.
They could've wrapped it up at the other end when Cantwell met Ryan Alebiosu's cross but his acrobatic effort was well over. It was inconsequential as the points returned with them to Lancashire.
