Here's how The Lancashire Telegraph scored the players' performances, with a six representing par for the course.

Balazs Toth - 8

A solid showing from the Hungarian. Did well to save from both McBurnie and Ndala in the first half when it was goalless. Had a quiet second half but did what was needed.

Ryan Alebiosu - 8

Attacked well down the right all game and was a real nuisance to Giles. Grabbed the assist for Cantwell’s goal and could have had one or two more assists on another day.

Dom Hyam - 8

Led the back line well. Managed McBurnie out of the game alongside McLoughlin and was good with the ball at his feet. Will feel unlucky to have not scored with a header that crashed off the crossbar.

Sean McLoughlin - 8

Dealt well with McBurnie’s physicality and put in a strong showing back at his old club. Looked comfortable on the ball as well.

Yuri Ribeiro - 8

Solid all game. Linked up well several times with Hedges and was solid whatever came his way.

Sidnei Tavares - 7

A lively showing from the midfielder. Got stuck in all over the middle of the park and was quick to sniff out any danger. Received a yellow card at the end of the first half that limited his influence before coming off.

Sondre Tronstad - 8

Exactly what we expect from him. Tough in the midfield, drove the team forward and linked up well with Tavares.

Augustus Kargbo - 6

Played off the right of the three attacking midfielders. He was wasteful but found Hedges with a well-weighted pass for the opening goal and was a livewire throughout.

Todd Cantwell - 9 (Star Man)

He seems to have really come alive in the captain role. Clever movement and some quick touches and flicks made him a nuisance all game. His clever free-kick gave Rovers the second and he put the icing on the cake with a well-taken third.

Ryan Hedges - 8

Arguably one of his strongest showings for Rovers. Constantly wanted the ball and linked up well with Ribeiro. Took his goal well with a lovely dinked effort that was very similar to his goal against Norwich last season.

Yuki Ohashi - 7

Often chasing lost causes in the first half but grew in the second and got a goal from close range. A tireless showing as we’ve come to expect from him.

Subs:

Axel Henriksson (70’) - 6

Had a chance to grab his first goal but didn’t generate the power to test Pandur. Didn’t see much of the ball.

Kristi Montgomery (70’) - 6

Brought on to feature in the midfield and see out the victory. Did his job and looked comfortable.

Makhtar Gueye (86’) - N/A

Came on late to see the game out. Had one chance but was knocked off the ball.

Dion De Neve (86’) - N/A

A late substitute to help see the game out.

Unused: Goddard, Wharton, Pickering, Miller, Tyjon.
