Blackburn Rovers have sold just fewer than 8,700 season tickets approaching the new season, with revenue increasing from last season.

The club have been keen to boost its sales this year after a decline in earnings following last summer's offer to mark the 30-year anniversary of the Premier League title win. Rovers reduced season ticket prices by £30 but did not see an uplift in take-up across the stadium.

Blackburn Rovers had 4,000 adult season ticket holders last summer and reduction in cost, coupled with increased overheads, meant the club decided to adjust pricing for 2025/26.

The club put prices back up this summer in a bid to increase their takings, which has transpired so far. The club took the second-lowest amount of revenue from season tickets last season compared to other Championship clubs, Rovers sources have told The Lancashire Telegraph.

The average number of season tickets across Championship clubs last season was 16,087. Rovers sold just under 10,000, which illustrates the difficult balance between filling the stadium, affordability and maximising income.

Prices were increased across the most popular areas, The Jack Walker Upper and The Blackburn End whilst matchday prices have also gone up to reflect season ticket cost. However, the entry fee for The Riverside Stand was reduced by £50 in order to ensure there was still an affordable stand in Ewood Park, though it is the most sparsely populated.

Rovers have sold 8,700 season tickets to date, with a similar spread to previous years on the age bracket of those buying. That is less than they'd sold at this stage last season by just more than three per cent.

However, because of the increased price, revenue is up 10% despite fewer fans buying season tickets. The club's target is to consistently break the 10K barrier for season ticket holders each season and there remains time for that figure to rise this term.

Despite the reduction in cost on The Riverside Stand, only 150 new supporters have bought season tickets in that area. Opening prices were £299, a £50 reduction on last year's offering.

Rovers have seen a brilliant uptake in the sales of their three kits this season. Last year was a record-breaking year for retail, with all shirts proving incredibly popular for the 30-year anniversary.

"Retail-wise, we've nearly doubled sales in retail from three seasons ago across the board," Sufi told The LT in April.
"Obviously, the kits have been a massive reason for that, especially with, for example, the third kit.

"So just on the third kit this year, and honestly, I still get astounded by the number of people wearing it. We sold around 2,400 of the yellow third kit that we had last season, which was really good, but we've tripled sales of the third kit this season on its own.

"We've got a fantastic team who care a lot about the football club and want to see it progressing. So commercially, we've been strong in that area."

With this being Blackburn's 150th year since they were founded, it's another special occasion. The Macron shirts have sold well once again, with a one-off fourth anniversary kit set to be released later this year too.

With the club expecting high levels of demand, Rovers purchased the same volume of away and third kits as they sold last season. Since going on sale three weeks ago, 50% of the adult shirt stock has been sold already for the green third strip.

Over 40% of that same stock for the adult away kit sold within the first 10 days of going on sale, too. The home shirt has also proven incredibly popular with supporters.
