It was a disappointing start to the latest Alexandra Classsic qualifier with three players dropping out an hour before start - but thankfully three reserves came in to replace them at short notice.
Those players in action put on a great display of quality bowling in the annual competition sponsored by Admiral Taverns and Sue Ainsworth.
With Peter Hawkes from Preston going through to yet another Finals Day and hoping to go one further than he’s managed in the past by winning it.
The second qualifier on the night was Eamon Hernen from Lytham St Annes - it must be a year for new players in the competition following on from last getting through on first visit.

On Sunday, Callumn Wraight, last year’s winner went through to Finals Night beating three-time winner Paul Sutcliffe in the 1st rnd.
The Highest Break, sponsored by Alantrueart.com, was won by Simon Hargreaves(Bamber Bridge) with a break of 20.

The finals night takes place on Sunday (5.30pm start)which is a very strong field where Wraight will be looking to defend his title and become the player to win the competition the most.
