The latest round of the Anthony Axford North West Cricket League Conference Premiership saw Farnworth and Burnley Belvedere seconds both win again to keep the title race going.
Farnworth enjoyed a fantastic victory over Feniscowles firsts, amassing 296-7 with Aaqib Javed (111 not out) and Bilal Afzal (75) top-scoring. In reply, Feniscowles were dismissed for 55 as Mehr Khan took 4-16.
Read had a comfortable victory as they hosted Barrowford firsts. The latter were dismissed for 140 as youngster Isaac Spence took 5-45. Read then won the game by nine wickets with Oliver Dinning top-scoring with 62.
Burnley Belvedere seconds defeated Salesbury after being bowled out for 172 in the first innings with Saqib Ali top-scoring with 48. Salesbury were then dismissed for 129 as Amir Abbas took 4-29.
Walkden also had a comfortable victory as they hosted Little Lever. Walkden scored 234 in the first innings as Jack Hamlett took 5-38. In reply, Walkden then dismissed Little Lever for 68, with Adil Sajjad (4-27) and Mehran Anwar (4-32) both taking four wickets each.
Ribblesdale Wanderers lead the second division with 108 points from 10 games. Last Saturday, Uzair Ahmed and Arslan Javid both just fell short of their half-centuries as Burnley Belvedere made 188, Travis Blezard taking 5-51. Stewart Trotter was Wanderers’ leading scorer with 69, but they slipped from 142-6 to 147 all out, allowing Belvedere to move into second place with 99 points from 11 games.
Ubaid Ullah (3-27) and Hashim Akhtar (3-37) helped dismiss Blackrod for 130, then Ullah (40) led Bridge’s recovery from 70-4 to a five-wicket victory.
Jabbran Sajjad’s half-century helped Foulridge from a precarious position of 16-4 to an eventual 183, Sajan Muthanna taking 4-49 and Attique Khan 3-33. Sajjad completed a useful all-round performance taking 3-9, Umar Farooq with 3-34 as Brinscall ended the game on 98.
Barnoldswick’s 173 included 61 from Chris Lemon, Charlie Knight with 3-35 for Lostock, who then totalled 116, Muhammad Azmat taking 5-22 and Wasique Ali 3-18.
Eagley still lead the third division with 111 points from 11 matches. On Saturday they recorded a 10-wicket victory after Seb Wilcox had taken 3-15 and Freddie Todd 3-7 in Chatburn’s 42.
Second are Whalley, on 99 points, also from 11. Tom Johnson led the way with an unbeaten 59 in Foulridge’s 146-7, Ethan Ditchfield with 5-41 for Whalley who won by six wickets.
Tonge’s Muhammad Rayan had the day’s top bowling performance, taking 6-17 in Feniscowles’ 89, Tonge progressing to a six-wicket victory despite James Jackson’s 3-24.
A good all round performance from Obid Khan (4-21 and 57no) saw Earby dismissed for 122, before Kearsley recovered from 34-4 to progress to victory without losing a further wicket.
In the Ramsbottom Cup, Wasique Ali (3-8) and Hafeez Ul Wahab (3-13) restricted Farnworth Social Circle to 67, which Barnoldswick overtook for the loss of just one wicket.
Chasing Ribblesdale Wanderers’ 189-7, Ansar Mahmood guided Barrowford to a two-wicket victory ending the game one short of his half-century - setting up a final against Barnoldswick.
The Lawrenson Cup semis also took place last Sunday, Tonge being well-placed at 94-2 chasing Salesbury’s 175, but 4-35 for Ethan Salt saw them fall 15 short.
In the other game Cameron Thorne hit 70 in Padiham’s 193-8, Ethan Shaw with 4-38 for Atherton who sealed victory by five wickets thanks largely to Mark Parry (80no) and Louie Farrimond (60).
Atherton will face Salesbury in the final with both cups concluding on August 17.
