Ahead of the new campaign, we take a closer look at some of the former Rovers names who have switched clubs this summer.
Thomas Kaminski
The goalkeeper will play Championship football again next season after joining newly-promoted Charlton Athletic.
The Addicks overcame Leyton Orient in the League One play-off final at Wembley after five years out of the second tier.
Kaminski departed Ewood Park in the summer of 2023 and has suffered back-to-back relegations with the Hatters.
Rovers would have been entitled to 10 per cent of any profit from the deal but Charlton’s bid was reportedly around the £1million mark, which is less than Luton paid to land him a couple of years ago.
“For me, he’s one of the best goalkeepers in the division,” said Nathan Jones. “We wanted to strengthen on all levels and improve every department, and we feel that the signing of Thomas does that."
Amari’i Bell
Another player who has left Kenilworth Road to join the Addicks ahead of their return to the Championship.
Bell spent the past three four years at Luton following his Rovers exit, racking up more than 130 appearances for the Hatters.
He has been representing Jamaica at the Gold Cup this summer and got on the scoresheet in the defeat against Panama last month.
Tayo Edun
The defender has joined Stockport, who reached the League One play-offs last term before coming up short against Leyton Orient over two legs.
Edun had a brief stint at Peterborough, who finished 18th and won the Vertu Trophy for the second season in a row.
The 27-year-old left Rovers in the summer of 2023 and spent 18 months at Charlton before heading to London Road.
Stockport are now among the early favourites for promotion as they aim to continue their climb under Dave Challinor.
Niall Ennis
The forward is back in Lancashire after returning to Blackpool on a permanent deal from Stoke City.
Ennis has spent the past 18 months with the Potters but struggled to make his mark in the Championship, heading to Bloomfield Road on loan in January.
He scored seven times for Steve Bruce’s side, who finished ninth in League One and 11 points off the play-off places.
The 26-year-old headed to Ewood Park on a free transfer from Plymouth in the summer of 2023 and although the move didn’t work out, Rovers received a fee from Stoke several months later as Ennis reunited with Steven Schumacher.
“We are delighted to welcome Niall back to Blackpool on a permanent basis,” said Bruce. “He hit the ground running for us last season, making a real impact at the top end of the pitch with some memorable goals.”
Jason Lowe
The former Rovers skipper has joined his seventh club aged 33, staying in League Two to join Tranmere.
Last term, Lowe played 18 times as Port Vale secured automatic promotion back to the third tier under Darren Moore.
Lowe initially progressed through the Academy ranks at Rovers and went on to make nearly 200 appearances at first-team level prior to his departure in 2017.
Sorba Thomas
Another familiar face Rovers could come up against in the Championship next season after heading to Stoke.
Thomas has spent the past few seasons at Huddersfield and had a loan spell at Ewood Park during the second half of 2022/23.
The winger also had a stint in France with Nantes, playing 25 times in Ligue 1 last term and scoring twice.
He now heads to Stoke as Mark Robins prepares for his first full season at the club following a lengthy spell at Coventry.
Amario Cozier-Duberry
The young winger is back in the North West following his loan at Ewood Park last season, now heading to League One Bolton.
Cozier-Duberry played 23 times last term after arriving from Brighton, scoring on his first senior start against Luton.
However, he had some bad luck with injuries and opportunities were harder to come by during the second half of the campaign.
He now links up with Steven Schumacher’s squad as Bolton aim to build on a disappointing campaign in the third tier.
"With his previous experiences, especially playing in the Championship last season, we know he has the ability to succeed in a Bolton shirt,” said Schumacher.
