Andi Weimann admitted he couldn’t turn down the chance to work with John Eustace again after completing his move to Derby County.
The pair initially played together at Watford and Eustace brought Weimann to Rovers last summer.
The experienced forward scored nine goals at Ewood Park before his season was cut short by injury, and he has now penned a one-year deal at Derby.
Weimann also revealed that geography played a role in his decision to join the Rams and be closer to his family.
“I think there are a couple of factors, to be honest,” he told the club channels. “Obviously, one is the manager.
“I loved working with him last year, I have known him for a long time and played with him at Watford when I was a teenager.
“Last year was the first time I worked with him and I loved it. All the staff as well, I really enjoyed working with them – brilliant manager and coaching staff, that was one part.

“The other part, to be honest, was family reasons a little bit – just because Blackburn was quite far from where I was living.
“We made it work for a year but I am at an age now where I want my children to watch me play. They also managed to come to two games last year and I think they will be able to come to pretty much every home game and watch me play.
“Then, just the club as well. Maybe my time here wasn’t as good as I wanted it to be last time but I saw how big the club was and the fanbase, it is a massive club. I am just happy to be back and hopefully I can have a good crack at it again.”
Eustace kept Derby in the Championship last season after leaving Ewood Park to take charge of the Rams.
“He hates losing and loves winning, he gives everything to win,” Weimann continued. “As a manager, last season, I can only speak really highly of him.
“The atmosphere he created around the training ground and around the squad was brilliant. That was a big part of coming here again and wanting to work with him for a bit longer.
“I am one of the more experienced players, I am nearly 34 so I have been around a long time. I think he likes what I can bring on the pitch but just as much off the pitch. I like to think I am a good lad around the place and I think he liked that last year.”
Defender Danny Batth has also made the move to Pride Park following the expiry of his Rovers contract.
“It was nice for Danny to come as well,” said Weimann. “We obviously had lots of talks over the summer, just seeing what either of us would do. We were travelling [together] last year and got really close, so it is nice to have him here.”
