Adam Forshaw is delighted to be back at Rovers and hungry to hit the ground running next season.
Forshaw joined from Plymouth on a short-term deal in January, making 17 appearances and scoring against his former club.
It was announced in the retained list that the 33-year-old was entitled to explore other options, although the club would keep in close contact.
A month later, Rovers confirmed that Forshaw had re-joined by penning a new one-year deal at Ewood Park.
“Really pleased, glad to get something sorted over the summer,” he told RoversTV. “I’d said how much I enjoyed being here and I wanted to continue. We came really close last season and hoping to go one better next year.
“We had good dialogue at the end of the season but I didn’t think it was going to be a ‘quick fix’ sort of thing.
“To get it done and to get back in this early - and hopefully get a real solid base and good pre-season – it is going to help me a lot.”
Forshaw enjoyed his first few months in East Lancashire and says the club “ticked all the boxes” for what he wants at this stage of his career.
“I was born early 90s and knew how big of a club it was,” he continued. “I have a lot of friends who have played here in the past and to get the chance to come, and try to help the team as much as I could last year, was exciting for me.

“I am back with my family as well and that is a key factor in trying to get the best out of myself, I have realised in the last few years.
“The lads were brilliant, the people around the place really make the place and I enjoyed working under the gaffer.
“Everything was great, I have had a really good relationship with the fans since I came in and it just ticked all the boxes for me.
“At this stage of my career, I want to enjoy and help as much as I can. I just felt like it was the perfect place for me and to get the opportunity to be here for another year is brilliant.”
The midfielder is now targeting a strong pre-season as he aims to earn a place in the team on the opening day at West Brom.
“You understand your role a little bit more when you get older,” he explained. “I understand maybe I am not going to play every minute of every game but I will be pushing the group as much as I can.
“I want to play, I want to contribute and I am confident that if I have a good pre-season, then I will.
“I have moved a couple of times in January and a lot of the time, managers have a settled team, partnerships or players they go to.
“Everyone on an even keel in the summer and it is a good chance to impress people and have a good start.
“Even more so when you are the other side of 30, you have got to get that base. In years gone by you can probably get through 75 minutes and think you are ready to go.
“But you need to get the legs weathered and ready to go. Everyone knows this league is a slog and it will definitely help.”
