Sky Sports Lee Hendrie believes Blackburn Rovers captain Lewis Travis would be a 'great signing' for Derby County amid uncertainty over his future.

The Rovers skipper has one year left on his contract and is attracting interest from Championship rivals. Wrexham have enquired about the 27-year-old whilst Birmingham City and Derby County have been credited with interest too.

Sheffield United tried to sign Travis last summer, though Chris Wilder's future is in doubt at Bramall Lane which could skew any interest from them.

With John Eustace already trying to sign Danny Batth and Andi Weimann, who are out of contract, it's easy to envisage why he'd want Travis too, if he was available.

Hendire believes it would be a big signing for the Rams, if they completed it.

"Derby are looking to take Lewis Travis from Blackburn," Hendrie told Football League World.

"John Eustace worked with Travis and knows what he's all about and how influential he is. I watched him as a young player, and he's stepped in and really stepped up.

"I think he'd be a fantastic signing for Derby, I really do. Like I said, Eustace knows him well and knows what a key role he can play.

"So, I think he would be a great signing for Derby."

Rovers have held talks with Travis' representatives about a new contract but there has been no agreement on the terms yet. He is already one of the club's top earners and Wrexham would be able to offer a better financial package.
