Tyrhys Dolan is playing with “confidence” as he aims to finish his most productive season yet in the Championship on a high note.

Dolan has chipped in with six goals and six assists in 38 league starts this term following his winner at Sunderland on Easter Monday.

The 23-year-old was also on target during the comeback against Sheffield Wednesday and set up Sondre Tronstad’s second goal against Millwall.

“That is what I am judged on. I know I put a lot into my game but, on paper, you have got to be bringing goals and assists,” he told RoversTV.

“That is something I am really trying to work on and I am happy it has been my best season yet in terms of goals and assists. I want to keep building from that.

“The final games now, I want to go and add a few more and just keep trying to set a high standard for myself.”

Dolan might have got the winning goal at the Stadium of Light, but it was a real team effort to bring the points back to Lancashire.

“Really good afternoon, the way the boys dug in in the second half was just outstanding,” the wideman added.

“It just shows that we can do both ends of the pitch. Last game, it was exciting with all the goals but this time, we had to really dig in.

“That second half, I don’t think we had much going into their box but the players all joined together and we saw it out.”

Dolan provided a ruthless finish into the roof of the net after some clever play by Cauley Woodrow in the box.

“Against a top team, chances don’t come around as often so you have got to be really clinical in front of goal. I was composed and took it well,” he recalled.

“Fair play to Cauley because he is a good finisher so I thought he was going to try and get himself half-a-yard. But he has found me and I finished it off really well.”

The winger continued: “I think you can see in the way I am playing that I am confident. The supporters, the staff and the team are all aiding that. I am just really enjoying my football.

“You can see what we are trying to put into it, it is all starting to come to fruition now. It has been a bit of a rocky start with the change but we are getting to grips with things and getting more confident as each game goes on.”

Dolan’s focus is now on picking up as many points as possible during the final couple of games and keeping the pressure on the sides above them in the play-off picture.

“We are on the chase now and the boys are all positive after seeing the results,” he said. “There is still a lot to play for in these final games and we are going to give it everything we have got.

“This is where it counts now, we have got to put points on the board. Going to Ewood now, that is where we love to play and the supporters will be right behind us, no doubt. They have been quality so just really looking forward to the next game.

“The way they were celebrating all the goals we were putting in (against Millwall), they deserved that just as much as we did because it has been a bit of a tough time. We want to make them happy and I am really excited for the game coming up.”
