Valerien Ismael will name his first Blackburn Rovers team this afternoon against Norwich City after two days of working with the players.

The Frenchman met the group on Thursday before taking training ahead of the weekend's game. He will have spent the last few days consulting staff and watching video clips to learn more about the group he is inheriting.

It is impossible to know exactly what Ismael's preferences will be but it would be a surprise for him to rip up the solid foundations already laid down.

With that in mind, the back five is likely to stay intact bar a change in defence. Hayden Carter could replace Dion Sanderson after returning to full fitness and having another week on the training ground.

Sondre Tronstad is likely to be on the bench after his injury lay-off with a hamstring problem. John Buckley could earn a recall to partner Lewis Travis in midfield.

The make-up of the attack was an issue at Swansea and must be addressed. Augustus Kargbo has done enough to merit a first Championship start on the left, though Emmanuel Dennis' relationship with Ismael could also earn him that spot.

Todd Cantwell will return if he's deemed fit enough to start. Tyrhys Dolan will likely keep his place on the right, with Makhtar Gueye leading the line.

Predicted Rovers team: Pears; Brittain, Carter, Hyam, Ribeiro; Travis, Buckley; Dolan, Cantwell, Kargbo; Gueye.
