Blackburn Rovers are trying to reach an agreement with Cesena for forward Augustus Kargbo, The Lancashire Telegraph understands.
The 25-year-old, Sierra Leon attacker was a player of interest in the summer transfer window but did not get over the line. Rovers have now rekindled that interest and are in negotiations to bring him to Ewood Park this month.
John Eustace is desperate to add a left-winger and a number nine to his ranks. Kargbo is viewed as a versatile attacker, who has played in both those positions this season in Serie B. He has scored five goals and registered three assists in 20 appearances across league and cup this term.
Rovers are understood to be in active negotiations with Kargbo and are trying to get a deal done. It's thought an offer was submitted earlier this week and negotiations are ongoing.

This same interest has been reported in Italy over the last six months. It's unclear what level of fee Rovers would need to stump up to land the player, who is out of contract in 2026.
Having signed Dion Sanderson and Adam Forshaw, Rovers have less than two weeks to ensure they get their top targets for Eustace. The team is crying out for an injection of quality in the final third after a fifth loss in eight games without scoring against Coventry City.
