David Livermore will take interim charge of Millwall against Blackburn Rovers this weekend.
Neil Harris surprisingly stepped down as the Lions' boss last week despite huge success on the pitch. Since returning to the club in February, only Leeds United (63) and Middlesbrough (55) have taken more points than Millwall (51) of current Championship clubs, in a 33-game spell.
However, after an outburst where he labelled those criticising the team 'thickos', he decide to hand in his resignation.
Harris took their last two games against Sheffield United and Middlesbrough despite announcing his exit. They lost both games narrowly 1-0 as he signed off his second spell as their manager.
It is a move into the unknown for the Lions without their all-time leading goal-scorer and club legend in charge. They are yet to make a fresh appointment and that looks unlikely to change before the weekend.
Therefore Livermore, a long-time ally of Harris who has worked alongside him at nearly all of his career, has taken training this week. He also made 300 plus appearances for the Lions.

Livermore said: “I feel privileged to be entrusted with taking temporary charge of the first team.
“I care deeply about this football club and with the support of Adam, Kevin and Andy, three experienced coaches, our sole aim and focus is preparing the players for this weekend's league fixture against Blackburn Rovers at The Den.
“We know this squad of players very well and have great relationships with them all. We look forward to working with the team and the support staff to achieve a positive result for the football club this Saturday.”
It is the second time in four matches that Rovers have faced a team that are under caretaker supervision. Hull City did announce Ruben Selles as their new head coach before kick-off but it was Andy Dawson who had the reigns at the MKM Stadium.
