John Eustace believes Blackburn Rovers have answered any questions about their character after grinding out a 1-0 win at Hull City.

A fourth successive victory puts Rovers in the Championship play-offs, with a game in hand, after a third away victory in a row.

It was not a game that will go down in the history books with the conditions from Storm Darragh making it very difficult to play much football. But Rovers crafted a nice goal, Callum Brittain's cross deflecting in, to win the match.

They limited Hull to very few clear-cut openings, particularly in the second half, and came away with all three points. It was a game they might not have won last season.

Eustace feels they have answered anyone who has doubted the character of this group previously.

"I thought the performance was good, it was always going to be a difficult game with them having a new manager sat in the stands," Eustace said.

"Although we had to deal with a lot of pressure, most of their shots were outside the area which is pleasing. I think the goal we scored was another outstanding footballing goal once again, building from the back and playing forward.

"We are trying to play quick, exciting attacking football and I feel we have done that of late. It's important to get both sides of the game right.

"A lot of their attacks were outside the box. We knew we were facing a talented team with excellent technicians. I am very pleased and proud of the boys to keep another clean sheet.

"We have players who have been questioned throughout their careers about desire in horrible conditions and tough games. They stuck to their task and that was outstanding. 1,600 fans behind the goal and they deserved something to shout about.

"I think we are growing as a group. We are playing good football, we are still hard to play again and we're winning games. We're limiting teams to good chances outside the box which is good.

"We are growing and it's going well at the moment."

The win puts Rovers on 31 points, sixth in the Championship table having played a game fewer than all their rivals. Eustace was never going to be shouting from the tables about that, with 28 games to go, but admitted it is a nice position to be in.

"Nobody is getting carried away but it's nice to be there after 18 games.

"We're in a position where we're in the right side of the table. There are 28 games left but everyone believes in what we're doing. We are playing well, defending well and it is exciting at the moment.

"We pride ourselves on being good in transition, good with the ball whe we get chance to build and we're evolving into a very good team.

"We can not get carried away with the results at the moment. We know what the Championship is like. Last month we lost three in a row, though I felt the performances were good."
