Sondre Tronstad says Rovers must keep believing as they aim to build on their strong form in the Championship.

Tronstad was in the thick of the action as John Eustace’s men secured impressive results against Middlesbrough and Leeds last week.

“It is huge,” he told RoversTV. “When you win two games like that, and also keep clean sheets and play well, it is big and shows us how good we are. We just need to continue that.

“I think you need to have belief and we have shown that we are a good team, but it is about consistency and doing it every week.

“We need to stay humble and learn from the mistakes we make, but also look at all the good things we have done.”

A win would have taken Leeds back to the top of the Championship but the Yorkshire club were restricted to few chances of note in the second half.

“When you play a team who are at the top of the league, Leeds are a really good team, we did great,” Tronstad reflected.

“First half we played well and second half we could have been better with the ball, but we defended really well and also had some chances so it could have been more.

“It was a really good team performance. There were a few good individual performers, especially Ty (Dolan) with the penalty.

“He dribbled past two or three and it is huge that we have players who can step forward when needed.”

The Norwegian’s brave block to deny Willy Gnonto in the second half was a prime example of Rovers’ inner steel to get over the line.

“In the first half, we gave them a few chances - not really from them playing well – but in the second half we didn’t,” he said.

“We didn’t keep the ball enough at times in the second half but sometimes that is how football is. If you can’t keep it, you need to defend well in the box and that is what we did.

“That is what you need, we practise it in training when we don’t have the ball and need to defend the box for our lives. We made sure we blocked every shot and cross that came in.

“(The atmosphere) was really good from the start. When you get quite an early goal and defend the whole game, the fans were really good behind us and gave us lots of energy.

“It is really important to have the fans behind us and there are times in the game where you tire, but you need to keep going.

“They give you energy to keep going and defending the box. We did create some good chances in the second half as well.”

The only downside was Lewis Travis’ fifth booking of the campaign, which means Tronstad will have a different midfield partner against Hull City for the first time this season in the league.

“I am really enjoying playing football, it has been great this season,” the 29-year-old insisted.

“Playing with Trav, and the whole team, I love working with everyone – the staff and the gaffer, it has been really good so far. But I know that we have so much quality in the group so we can do even more.

“He will be a big miss but we have really good players behind us as well, so I am not worried about that.”
