Isaac Dunn made his Rovers Under-21 debut as Mike Sheron’s side beat Borussia Monchengladbach 3-1 in the Premier League International Cup.
The youngster, who is the son of club legend David Dunn, came off the bench for the second half at the Wham Stadium.
Brandon Powell, Adam Caddick and Harry Leonard got on the scoresheet – the latter getting around 80 minutes under his belt.
Leo Duru also started, while first-year scholars Freddie Leatherbarrow and Blake Wolsoncroft were on the bench with Dunn.
The visitors nearly took an early lead when Charles Herrmann’s strike from 25 yards struck a post.
Moments later, Jack Barrett made a smart stop to deny Noah Pesch after he latched onto Herrmann’s pass.
Powell got the opener with a moment of magic, firing into the top corner after Zack Stritch’s initial corner had been cleared to the edge of the box.
Leonard sent a strike just wide from 20 yards and Niklas Swider went close to an equaliser at the other end.
The end-to-end nature continued as Barrett made another fine stop to deny Fritz Fleck before Exauce Mafoumbi grazed the outside of the post.
The woodwork again came to the visitors’ rescue on the stroke of half time when O’Grady-Macken thought he had doubled the lead.
The German side got back on level terms early in the second half when Veit Stange picked out the top corner with a ruthless strike.
Rovers were back in front before the hour mark, though, as Caddick played Duru down the right and he cut it back for Leonard, who made no mistake in the box.
Maximilian Neutgens made an impressive stop to keep out Aodhan Doherty’s shot, but the third goal came when Leonard teed up Caddick and he blasted past the goalkeeper.
Neutgens made another fine save in the final stages as Leatherbarrow looked to get on the scoresheet.
Barrett was also called into late action from Shio Fukuda’s strike, while Winsley Boteli smashed against the crossbar.
Rovers wrap up the group stage when Athletic Bilbao make the trip to the Wham Stadium on Wednesday, November 13.
