Former England, Everton and Manchester City footballer and now Sky Sports pundit, Izzy Christiansen, will be in Accrington this Mother's Day as fans are invited to bring their mum to a FREE football match.

Izzy’s appearance comes as Accrington Stanley Women return to the Wham Stadium to take on Penrith AFC Ladies in the first round of the Alliance Design and Print Plate Competition.

The match will also see the announcement of an exciting new partnership, which celebrates women in sport, this International Women's Day and Mother's Day.

Izzy will be in attendance from 12pm - 1pm, with supporters invited to come and take a photograph with the 2019 Champions League winner.

Free entry has also been announced as Stanley Women hope to welcome a bumper crowd to the Wham Stadium and surpass the 1,249 attendance which attended the club's local derby against Darwen FC Women last month.

As an extra offer, Mother's Day afternoon tea is available to book at a cost of just £25pp in Accrington Stanley's world class 1968 Lounge from 12pm, including afternoon tea, a glass of prosecco on arrival and live music.

Drinks will also be available in Coley's, as well as a viewing area to watch the match from indoors, while a raffle will take place on the day.

Sami Smithson, chair of Accrington Stanley Women, said: "This is going to be a truly historic day for the club and one that we can't wait to celebrate with all our supporters.

"On Sunday, together with our new partner, we will be marking Mother's Day and International Women's Day by celebrating our Accrington Stanley Women and women in sport.

“We are encouraging everyone to come down and enjoy the day with us, which will include some exciting free giveaways for everyone.

"We are also privileged to have a former international footballer with us at the game in Izzy Christiansen and anyone looking to grab a selfie with Izzy at 12pm should get down early to avoid disappointment."
