Jon Dahl Tomasson provided no clear explanation as to why he was blocked from speaking to the media on Friday but hinted 'You probably know why'.

The Blackburn Rovers head coach was scheduled to speak with the press yesterday at his pre-match press conference. The club then informed The Lancashire Telegraph and BBC Radio Lancashire that wouldn't be the case and it was a 'club decision'.

Tomasson was quizzed about his absence extensively after Rovers' 2-1 defeat to Queens Park Rangers. He said he could not add any further comment other than it was not his choice.

He did however state that 'you probably know why', perhaps alluding to his frustrations with the January transfer window.

"It's very good to see you, I wasn't allowed to talk to the press yesterday," Tomasson opened with.

"It's a club decision, I have no comment on it. I think you know me, I'm happy to speak to you, I'm an honest person.

"It's not good when you can't speak to the fans, they are the heart and soul of the game. We should always think about that. It was a club decision and I have no comment on it.

"We should always be open with everything, never leave the fans in the dark. It was a club decision, I was told I wasn't allowed to speak with the press. I have no further comment to that.

"It was a club decision, I can't comment on the reason why. You probably already know what could be the reason.

"It is difficult not to get a better answer. The club said yesterday I couldn't speak with the media. I am sitting here and answering the question.

"I have given you the reason, I have no more comment to that. It was a club decision. We should tell the fans everything, they are the soul of the football club."

Reports emerged on Saturday have claimed there is an issue with Duncan McGuire's move to Blackburn Rovers. It's stated that there is an issue with the documentation and the deal is hanging in the balance.

The Lancashire Telegraph understands there is truth behind those claims. Rovers were approached for comment and say there will be further developments in the next 48 hours to hopefully clarify the situation.

McGuire was unveiled by the club at 11pm on deadline day but was ruled out against QPR with the club awaiting international clearance and visa checks, which is common practice.

When asked about the issue, Tomasson said questions should be directed at the Blackburn Rovers board.

"What should I say about Duncan McGuire? The Duncan McGuire case. I am not allowed to speak about that case. You should ask Steve and Suhail about that case.

"I think you should ask Steve, Suhail and the ownership about the Duncan McGuire case."
