Paul Ince believes his former club, Blackburn Rovers, could still make the Championship play-off with some winnable fixtures coming up.

Jon Dahl Tomasson's side are currently bottom of the form table after one win in their last 10 league games. As a result, fans have started to look beneath them at the relegation zone rather than the top six.

That congested nature of the table means Rovers in 17th are only 10 points off the top six. There remains plenty of traffic but the point tally alone is not insurmountable.

Therefore, with important players returning from injury, Ince believes Rovers could make a fist at a play-off push.

“Blackburn’s situation is a funny one because last year they were fantastic under Jon Dahl Tomasson,” Ince told LuckyBlock.com. “They played some really good, exciting football. They created a lot of chances and scored a lot of goals.

“This year they’ve had a few big injuries and Ben Brereton Diaz left in the summer. Sam Gallagher has been out for most of the season, as has Ryan Hedges, who is one of their best players.

"They also let Lewis Travis go which was a bit of a surprise – I thought he was a very good player. It has obviously been tough; they’ve only won two of their last 10 matches and they haven’t looked like a Blackburn team.

“Gallagher is back now which should really help and they’re not too far off the playoffs; they’re only ten points behind Coventry in sixth. There are 18 games to go so it is definitely doable.

"Their next five games are ones that they could easily win. It is hard to predict anything in the Championship but you’d have to say that they’ve got winnable games coming up.

“They just need to pick up a couple of wins to go on a run and the next five games could allow them to do that. Then they’ll be high on confidence and they will still have a chance at getting in the playoffs.

“When you take the top four away, there are probably eight or nine teams fighting for those final two playoff spots and anything could happen. Blackburn is a fantastic club so you want to see them up there and they play football the right way. Hopefully, they start picking up more points.”
