Aysnley Pears, Ben Chrisene, Yasin Ayari, Dilan Markanday, Semir Telalovic and Niall Ennis all featured for Blackburn Rovers' Under-21s as they drew 3-3 with Crystal Palace.

Ennis was left out of the matchday squad that lost 4-1 to West Brom whilst the other three were on the bench. Pears has now featured twice for Mike Sheron's side in the last seven days and will be pushing to start against Huddersfield Town on Saturday.

Ayari and Chrisene are also building their fitness whilst Markanday and Semir Telalovic were an unused substitute at the weekend. Jon Dahl Tomasson was in attendance and saw the winger score a brace against the Eagles.

Markanday opened the scoring at Brockhall and before Jadan Raymond had levelled the score. Ennis then missed the chance to have his side ahead at the break as he was denied from the penalty spot having been brought down.

However, Markanday was on hand to get his second and restore Rovers' lead. They were pegged back for a second time though as Franco Umeh struck.

At 2-2, the game looked destined to end level until Telalovic's strike that hit the post on its way in looked to be the winner, only for a sixth goal in the match to prove decisive. Umeh got his second of the match in the dying seconds to level an entertaining affair.

“I have mixed emotions because it’s pleasing that we scored three goals and created enough to have quite a few more," Sheron said post-match.

“We lacked that bit of quality and that decision-making in the final third at times.

“To get into a lead in added time, you think you’re going to win the game of football with Semir getting his goal for what was a good, workmanlike performance from him.

“We haven’t won a lot of games this season and we need to recognise what we need to do when we are in front late on in games.

“We probably let them get in a few too many shots around the box today and it comes down to making those good decisions late on.

“We want to try and see positivity, energy, enthusiasm, and we’re seeing that and also a competition for places with the players who didn’t feature," he added.

“I’ve been pretty pleased with the last three performances overall, but we’re disappointed to let a lead slip late on.

“However, we’ve been giving a good account of ourselves recently and hopefully we’ll continue to produce performances that alert the manager's attention, which is what it’s all about.”
