Sam Szmodics has been named in Sky Sports' Championship Team of the Season so far.

The Blackburn Rovers star has been in fantastic form, scoring 16 league goals and a hat-trick in the FA Cup. One more and he'll have hit 20 for the season just after the halfway mark in the season.

Szmodics only scored five league goals in the entirety of his debut season but has stepped up to be the club's talisman. Having signed a new contract too, it's been the perfect season for the 28-year-old.

As the Championship's top marksman, it was impossible for Szmodics not to be included in any Championship XI. He was drafted in as the number 10 behind a host of big names from those at the top of the Championship.

"Sammie Szmodics, it's been a long time coming. Goal-scorer extraordinaire," said David Prutton, after selecting him in the team.

"There's a shout that when the door shuts with the likes of Brereton Diaz moving on, Bradley Dack, someone needs to step forward and my word has he done that for Blackburn Rovers."

Rotherham United goalkeeper Viktor Johansson got the nod in between the sticks. The Swedish goalkeeper impressed during the Millers' recent 2-2 draw at Ewood Park.

Cardiff's Perry Ng is at right-back alongside team-mate Dimitrios Goutas in the middle. Jannik Vestergaard is his partner with Ipswich Town's Leif Davis at left-back.

In midfield, another Leicester City star gets in, with Keinan Dewsbury-Hall and Norwich City's Gabriel Sara in the centre of the park.

Szmodics is flanked by Crysensio Summerville and Jack Clarke of Leeds United and Leicester City. Both flying wingers scored against Rovers in their contests this season.

Finally, Georginio Rutter gets the nod up front. Though the Leeds striker isn't right at the top of the scoring charts, he has impressed with his all-round game, registering nine assists.
