Liam Rosenior has heaped praise on 'outstanding' Blackburn Rovers after their 3-2 victory on Friday night.

The Hull City boss was full of praise for Jon Dahl Tomasson's side, who he is delighted not to be playing again this season. Rovers fell to their sixth defeat in seven matches at the MKM Stadium, losing the match having got themselves level.

Rovers gave away amateurish goals at the back but did carry a threat in attack, creating chances and scoring twice on the road. It made for an open game, with both sides showing more quality in their attacking play than their defensive work.

Rosenior, unprompted, started his post-match press conference by showing Rovers with praise.

"First of all, I have to say that I am so happy we don't have to play Blackburn again this season," he said.

"They are a credit to Jon. They're an outstanding, young team. I don't want to sound patronising after a win but I thought they were outstanding.

"I thought they made for a really good football match. We had to win in a different way, we had to set-up with a narrow diamond, Liam pressing from the front.

"We invited them on to us and it left space in transition. That's where the first two goals came from. Then the first half summed up our season, we are in control and we shoot ourselves in the foot.

"It's a cheap giveaway, one long ball, we spoke about Szmodics and what he does. Fantastic finish.

"Tyler Morton, he'll learn from it and he's a fantastic player, Cruyff turn a minute before half time and we lose it. They go 2-2, it does take a minor deflection.

"We came in with frustrated players but we gathered them up. The reality was it's 2-2 but we had so many chances in transition. We knew if we kept a clean sheet in the second half, we could win the game."
