Blackburn Rovers have announced the permanent signing of Arnor Sigurdsson on a deal until 2025.

The Icelandic international becomes a Rovers player effective immediately after initially signing on a one-year loan deal from CSKA Moscow.

With his deal expiring on May 30 in Russia, the club have moved to sign Sigurdsson on a permanent contract ahead of the January transfer window.

The 24-year-old says he feels 'at home' at Ewood Park and after a few weeks of talks, he's delighted to have made his stay a more long-term arrangement.

"It feels amazing, I am very proud and excited," he said. "I have been here for five, six months and I am loving life.

"I am buzzing to get this done. It feels like home, the way everyone has been so welcoming. They have helped me to adapt, the process has been very quick.

"It feels like home, it's important for a footballer to know where they will be. I will be here and it's a relief as well.

"There was some discussion when I signed in the summer about this being a possibility. I'm loving life here, it's a dream come true playing in England and now signing a permanent deal.

"Everyone knows it was a tough injury in the beginning but then I came back with an explosion. After all the games and the international break, I knew things would get tougher.

"I think I've found my form again and I am happy. I think if you work hard and do things properly you can catch up without a pre-season.

"Living in England is good. I have felt welcome since day one and that is very important to feel good outside of the pitch. It's like a family club, a massive club but you feel like it's a nice environment. You come into training with a smile and leave with one."

Sigurdsson joins Sam Szmodics, Adam Wharton and Harry Pickering in committing their immediate future to Rovers over the last month.

Jon Dahl Tomasson praised the work of the club to get their assets tied down and is looking forward to working with Sigurdsson for the foreseeable future.

"I think the club has done very well, an excellent job to sign a lot of players to new contracts," Tomasson said.

"It protects the assets. Arnor was a loan player and it's great that we are keeping him on board. He came in injured, he got used to the league but he can score goals.

"The ball finds him or he finds the ball, that's an important quality. Look at the last goal he scored at Ewood Park, it's extremely positive.

"It's a great league, the intensity is massive compared to Europe. It's positive to see and we shouldn't forget players aren't robots. They are flesh and blood."
