Sondre Tronstad knows the Christmas period will be demanding on the Rovers squad – but hopes they can find a “good rhythm” as the fixtures come thick and fast.

Jon Dahl Tomasson’s men have four games in a 10-day period coming up and the squad is already stretched due to injuries.

But Tronstad is relishing the challenge ahead and insists the busy schedule was one of the reasons why he wanted to return to English football.

“There are a lot of games coming up now so you need to find a good rhythm and try to win games on the bounce,” he said. “We want to get closer and closer to the play-offs.

“That is what you want as a player, you want to play games. You don’t want to train!

“It is why I chose to come here, I have said it before. Having this many games suits me and I like to play every third day, it is perfect.

“Throughout my career, when I am making my next step, the league has to suit me and I think it does here.

“It took a while to settle in but hopefully now I can show my qualities. It is good to be back in the team.”

The midfielder had a tough start to life at Rovers as he adapted to Championship football but is now thriving in the middle of the pitch.

“It is difficult, it is intensive and there are a lot of good teams,” he continued. “There are no bad teams in the league, everyone is quite similar.

“There are a lot of games and the intensity is different from what I am used to, but I am getting used to it and feeling good.

“I think I needed that time to get settled in and get to know the way we play, my team-mates and the league. Sometimes, it takes a bit more time.

“Of course, you want to go straight in the team and play as well as possible straight away. But it was good for me, to learn, and I think I needed that time.”

Tomasson wants his Rovers side to play entertaining football and get on the front foot whenever possible, and Tronstad has enjoyed being part of it.

“It is really fun,” he smiled. “I think we play some great football at times and we want to do it even more, that is what we are trying to do.

“As players, we want to play entertaining football. At the same time, you need a mixture. You need to defend well to win games.

“You cannot win every game by performing to your best and I think that was the case against Bristol City.

“The first goal was one or two touches like we want to play, and we also had the second from Scotty (Wharton) from a corner. We can mix it up, which is important at times.”
