Stanley have signed goalkeeper Joe Walsh from Queens Park Rangers on a seven-day emergency loan.

Walsh came through the ranks at Gillingham and made a number of first-team appearances before heading to Loftus Road in January 2021.

He has since had loan spells with the likes of Dorking and Maidenhead, as well as making his QPR debut against Norwich in the Carabao Cup earlier this season.

Jon McCracken had been on emergency loan from Norwich but suffered an injury during the recent 4-3 defeat against Swindon.

"It's a challenge, but we are used to having to do things like this. We had a lot of goalkeepers on our radar in the summer,” John Coleman told the club website.

"We are restricted by the fact we can't loan Premier League players, so we have to go into the EFL.

"He comes with good references, we have seen him play. It's a big opportunity for the lad himself and for us to go and win a game on Saturday. He knows what he is going into, he isn't a complete rookie."

Walsh added: "For goalies, you just have to be ready. If you haven't played a game in a while, when you get an opportunity like this, you have to go and take it.

"Life changes so quickly. You can't plan week to week, you have to go day to day.

"I am excited just to have this opportunity. I am so grateful to get games, experience, push myself, and mentally go in strong and play some games in League Two."

The Reds are back in League Two action this weekend when they welcome Doncaster to the Wham Stadium.
