Rovers will welcome League One outfit Cambridge United to Ewood Park in the FA Cup third round.

Jon Dahl Tomasson’s men made it to the quarter-final last season, narrowly missing out on a trip to Wembley in the semis following a 3-2 defeat at Sheffield United.

Cambridge beat Fleetwood 4-0 in the second round thanks to goals from Danny Andrew, Elias Kachunga, Fejiri Okenabirhie and Gassan Ahadme.

Rovers haven’t faced Cambridge in a competitive fixture since January 1993 in the League Cup. They won 3-2 against the U’s that day.

The draw was carried out live on ITV1 by former Everton star Trevor Steven and Arsenal defender Jen Beattie. Third-round fixtures are scheduled to be played on the weekend of Saturday, January 6.
