Rovers have confirmed their Carabao Cup third round tie against Cardiff at Ewood Park will take place on Wednesday, September 27 (7.45pm).

Jon Dahl Tomasson’s men reached this stage following an emphatic 8-0 victory at League Two outfit Harrogate. They also overcame Walsall in the opening round following a 4-3 win at Ewood Park despite making a raft of changes in both games.

Tom Bloxham and James Edmondson scored on their senior debuts against Harrogate, while Pat Gamble and Tom Atcheson also featured at first-team level for the first time in a competitive fixture.

Meanwhile, Cardiff ran out 3-1 winners at Birmingham in the previous round after goals from Rubin Colwill, Ryan Wintle and Kion Etete. The Blues played the final 34 minutes with 10 men after Lukas Jutkiewicz was given his marching orders.

Erol Lulut’s side beat Colchester on penalties in the opening round after a 2-2 draw in 90 minutes.

Cardiff currently sit 19th in the Championship table, having won one of their opening five league matches.

Rovers had some joy in the cups last season, recording wins against Premier League opposition in West Ham and Leicester.

Ticket details for the third-round tie have been confirmed and are priced at £10 for adults, £5 for over-65s and under-32s, and £2 for under-18s. Supporters should note that under-12s tickets must be accompanied by an adult.

Home fans can purchase tickets in the Jack Walker Stand, while visiting supporters will be situated in the Darwen End. Season ticket seats will not be reserved for this fixture.

Rovers ran out 1-0 winners when the sides met at Ewood Park on New Year's Day, with Bradley Dack getting the decisive goal early in the second half.
