Rovers have completed the signing of Borussia Monchengladbach striker Semir Telalovic for an undisclosed fee.

The 23-year-old has put pen to paper over a three-year deal at Ewood Park and becomes the club’s seventh signing of the summer.

Telalovic joined the German club in January 2022 following spells at SSV Ehingen-Sud and FV Illertissen.

The forward scored 22 goals in 49 games for the club’s Under-23 side and came into the first-team picture earlier this year, making his Bundesliga debut against Augsburg. He also featured against RB Leipzig and Stuttgart.

The new signing will wear the number 33 shirt at Rovers and joins “subject to international clearance and visa requirements being approved”.

Director of football Gregg Broughton said: “We are delighted to make Semir our seventh signing this summer and our second striker on a permanent contract.

“Making his breakthrough under Daniel Farke at Monchengladbach last season after his prolific form for their second team, Semir will bring great pace, finishing ability and directness to our forward options.

“At the age of 23, Semir still has huge potential to develop, but has already experienced six years of senior football, scoring 65 goals in 132 games.”

Rovers were keen to bolster their striking department ahead of tonight’s 11pm deadline.

The club lost Ben Brereton and Bradley Dack over the summer, with the pair scoring 23 goals between them last season.

Harry Leonard has started up front in the league so far this season, with Sam Gallagher getting 60 minutes under his belt against Harrogate in midweek.

Niall Ennis had also shown promising signs prior to picking up a knee injury, while Arnor Sigurdsson is yet to make his first appearance in a Rovers shirt.

“It feels very good and I’m very thankful to be here," Telalovic stated. “I hope we can have a great time together.

“I know about the club from being a kid. Blackburn Rovers are a big, traditional club and I know about some of the players and the league.

“When I heard from Rovers, I was really impressed because I know how tough the league is, but I wanted to come here and play in England with Rovers.

“You grow up as a footballer and know England is the heart of football. You can speak to anyone in Germany or in Europe and everyone has the dream to play in England."

The 23-year-old believes his attributes will are suited to the physical demands of Championship football.

“I’m a striker who is very fast and physical and love to be in the game, playing football and scoring goals," he added. "I think my physical attributes and speed will fit playing in England.

“This is a big step for me, but I wanted a big step and I think I can improve a lot at my age playing in a new country, in a new culture and in front of new supporters.

“I’m very excited to play at Ewood for the first time, to feel the fans and to win with the team.”
