Rovers’ upcoming league clash with Leicester City has been moved due to both clubs' progress in the Carabao Cup.

The fixture at Ewood Park, which will be broadcast live on Sky Sports, was scheduled to take place on Friday, September 29 but will not be played on Sunday, October 1 (12pm).

Rovers host fellow Championship side Cardiff City in the third round following a dominant 8-0 victory against Harrogate Town in midweek.

John Buckley bagged a brace, with Jake Garrett, Sam Gallagher, Dilan Markanday, Zak Gilsenan, Tom Bloxham and James Edmondson all getting on the scoresheet at the EnviroVent Stadium.

Meanwhile, Leicester ran out 2-0 winners at Tranmere Rovers on Tuesday night after goals from Wilfred Ndidi and Jamie Vardy.

The Foxes now face a trip to Anfield to take on Liverpool in the next round as they aim to pull off an upset.

Third-round ties are scheduled to be played in the week of Monday, September 25 and more information will be released in due course.

Leicester are back in the Championship following their relegation from the Premier League on the final day last season, with Everton narrowly beating the drop.

Enzo Maresca took charge at the King Power Stadium over the summer after leaving his role as assistant coach at Manchester City.

The Foxes currently sit at the top of the Championship table and are the only side to win all four of their opening fixtures, winning 2-1 at Rotherham last weekend thanks to Kasey McAteer’s brace either side of half time.

Rovers knocked Leicester out of the FA Cup in March following a memorable 2-1 win, with Tyrhys Dolan and Sam Szmodics both getting on the scoresheet that night.
