Brighton and Republic of Ireland Under-21 prospect Andrew Moran is reportedly set to join Rovers on loan.

The 19-year-old midfielder joined the Seagulls from Bray Wanderers in 2020 and signed a new long-term deal earlier this summer.

Moran scored a brace for Brighton’s Under-21 side in a 3-2 victory against Walsall in the EFL Trophy on Tuesday night.

He featured in a Premier League game against Everton earlier this year and has been named on the bench on several occasions.

The youngster has been linked with a number of clubs in England and abroad over potential loan deals, but Rovers’ style of play is said to have been a key selling point for the Seagulls.

Speaking after Moran’s new deal earlier this summer, Brighton technical director David Weir said: "Andrew has progressed really well through the academy and has impressed Roberto De Zerbi) as part of our first-team squad.

“He has worked really hard to earn this new contract and now his challenge is to break through into the team."

Rovers have brought in four new additions so far this summer, with Niall Ennis, Sondre Tronstad, Arnor Sigurdsson and more recently Leo Wahlstedt arriving in East Lancashire.

But Jon Dahl Tomasson is keen to add further depth to his squad before the transfer window slams shut following the departures of Ben Brereton, Bradley Dack, Daniel Ayala and Thomas Kaminski among others.

Rovers are back on the road on Sunday afternoon when they head to Vicarage Road to take on Watford (12pm). Tomasson's men have taken four points from their opening three league games.
