Hull City boss Liam Rosenior reckons Jon Dahl Tomasson is “building something special” at Rovers.

Rosenior’s side recorded a narrow 2-1 victory at Ewood Park after a double from Aaron Connolly inside the final 10 minutes.

Rovers played most of the game with 10 men after Harry Pickering was shown a straight red card but went in front through Sam Gallagher’s strike.

“The last 15 minutes, the players showed quality, determination and quality,” said Rosenior.

“They were two great goals and then we were trying to hold onto the game, which is going to happen in the last minutes.

“We probably had eight attacking players on the pitch at that point. That is the way we are going to do it this year, we are going to go for it.

“But I thought Blackburn were magnificent today, I have to give Jon all the credit in the world. With 10 men, to play the way they did, be so brave and take the ball in areas.

“They are a really young team and I think he is doing something really special here. It is not me being patronising because we have won the game, I would have said that had we lost. I thought they were absolutely top.

“We are a very good team as well and I thought it was two excellent footballing teams at this level trying to play a really nice brand of football.”

Rosenior was particularly impressed with Adam Wharton, who had another good game in the middle of the pitch.

“I thought Wharton was magnificent in midfield, he is some player for his age,” the Hull boss continued.

“I felt the first 20 minutes, we played really well. We dominated the game and created some good chances but didn’t take them. Their goalkeeper made two outstanding saves.

“I thought it was a clear red card and unlucky for Pickering. Our players almost breathed a sigh of relief, and you can’t do that against teams like Blackburn.

“It took us another 10 or 15 minutes to find our rhythm again and we changed one or two things at half time because we knew they would continue to play the way they did.

“Up until their breakaway goal, we were just camped it their half. Credit to them, they chased and they worked.

“Seeing Sam Gallagher chasing Lewie Coyle back into his own box, I have to give them so much credit.”
