Rotherham are waiting on the fitness of Andre Green and Grant Hall ahead of Saturday’s clash with Rovers.

Former Aston Villa man Green, who joined the Millers last month, is yet to make his debut due to a groin problem.

Meanwhile, Hall missed the 4-1 defeat against Stoke City on the opening day due to a tight hamstring.

"Andre's got a chance,” manager Matt Taylor told The Rotherham Advertiser. "He's done a little bit more today in terms of vigorous exercise and training.

"We have to wait to see how he reacts tomorrow and then probably leave it as late as Saturday morning. It's the same situation for Grant. We'll monitor them both."

Ben Wiles is “expected” to be back available for the fixture despite a dead leg, and Tom Eaves could return to the squad after a six-week absence.

Taylor is expecting a tough test against Rovers and saw plenty of good things from Jon Dahl Tomasson’s side against West Brom.

“They have changed a little bit in terms of losing some well-known players – some experience, some Championship know-how and physicality – but they seem to have kept their identity,” he added.

“They are a good footballing team and they have got a lot of good young players. They have a good way of playing on the pitch, they are fluid and move the ball well.

“The West Brom game was an incredible game to watch. It was end-to-end, a real humdinger with a lot of attacking moments and space.

“We have to put them under pressure. Regardless of who we play, we know what style we want to get towards and see where it takes us.

“But an opposition to be admired in terms of the way they function as a football club.”

Rovers suffered a 4-0 defeat at the New York Stadium last season after goals from Hakeem Odoffin, Ollie Rathbone, Shane Ferguson and Conor Washington.

But Taylor insists any previous meetings will go out of the window once the players step over the white line.

“It feels a long time ago now,” he smiled. “A different time and different players. But we know what we want to look like and how we want to play.

“That was a good day for ourselves and we will be looking for similar at the weekend.”

Last season, the Rotherham boss revealed his father is a big Rovers supporter – having grown up in Chorley - and says he will be in attendance once again.

“He is coming this weekend,” Taylor continued. “He has still got his love for football and when he is not watching us, he is watching Chorley or Blackburn.

“He has got a real affiliation with Blackburn Rovers and it will be a proud day for him at the weekend.”
