Jon Dahl Tomasson admits it is likely Ash Phillips will be moving on this summer – but says Rovers are yet to reach an agreement with Tottenham.

The Premier League club have a long-standing interest in the highly-rated youngster, who made 14 appearances last season.

Phillips was scheduled for a medical at Spurs last week but Rovers are said to have upped their asking price for the highly-rated youngster.

“The chances are big that the boy will probably be going to a good side,” Tomasson admitted.

“He is a great player, he will have a great future. But there is not an agreement at the moment.”

When asked if funds from a potential Phillips sale would be reinvested in the squad, the boss replied: “To be honest, I don’t know.”

Rovers are back in action against Girona at Ewood Park this afternoon in their final pre-season fixture ahead of the new campaign.

Niall Ennis could make his first appearance in a Rovers shirt after joining on a free transfer from Plymouth earlier this summer.

The 24-year-old striker scored 15 goals in all competitions last season as the Pilgrims clinched the League One title.

Ennis did not travel with the squad to their recent training camp in Austria, with Rovers aiming to build up his fitness gradually.

Iceland international Arnor Sigurdsson is also facing a spell on the sidelines following his move from CSKA Moscow.

“Niall will probably be ready to play 20 minutes,” Tomasson explained. “We are trying to build the boy up.

“Arnor, he has that injury he had from the Iceland national team. The rest of the team will play tomorrow.”
