Bradley Dack has reunited with Tony Mowbray at Sunderland following his release by Rovers.

The 29-year-old departed Ewood Park at the end of his contract after the conclusion of last season.

Dack joined Rovers from Gillingham in the summer of 2017 and went on to spend six years in East Lancashire, scoring 57 goals in 173 appearances.

He scored seven times in all competitions last term after returning from his second ACL injury in quick succession.

“It feels brilliant to be here,” Dack told the club website. “It’s clear to see the club is on an upwards trajectory and it’s great to be on board.

“To play in front of 40,000 people every week at the Stadium of Light was a huge pull for me. There are not many teams in England can produce those numbers.

“I hope my experience and style of play can add something different to the group, and I can’t wait to pull on the shirt for the first time.”

Sunderland are aiming to build on last season’s sixth-place finish in the Championship, having come up short against Luton in the play-off semi-final over two legs.

Sporting director Kristjaan Speakman added: "We are delighted to welcome Bradley to Sunderland AFC.

“He’s an attacking midfielder with different qualities to others we have within the squad, and we feel he can add a different dimension to our team.

“He brings a wealth of experience, but also a personality that can help us on and off the field.

“It’s great to welcome him to the club and to see him so excited by the opportunity this move represents.”

Dack could come up against his former club when Sunderland head to Ewood Park on Wednesday, September 20. The reverse fixture at the Stadium of Light is currently scheduled for Monday, April 1 next year.
