Rovers Women will kick-off the new campaign at Ewood Park against Birmingham City on Saturday, August 26.

The side is guaranteed to play at least four games in BB2 over the coming season, with their other home matches taking place at the Lancashire FA County Ground in Leyland.

Their first away fixture is a trip to the South Coast the following weekend to take on Southampton at St Mary’s.

Rovers Women conclude the calendar year with a home fixture against Lewes on Sunday, December 17 and begin 2024 with a trip to Charlton on Sunday, January 21.

They wrap up the season with a home fixture against Watford on Sunday, April 21 before heading to Sheffield United on Sunday, April 28.

New boss Simon Parker believes it is an exciting time to be joining the club.

Parker was named as Gemma Donnelly’s successor on Monday following a lengthy recruitment process that involved multiple interviews with a panel consisting of CEO Steve Waggott, head of academy Stuart Jones and women’s general manager Ellis Clark among others.

Donnelly, who spent nine years in the dugout, left the club by mutual consent to pursue other opportunities in April.

The side achieved their highest points tally in the Championship last season, with Matt Bee taking interim charge for the final fixtures. Bee will now return to his previous role of first team coach.

Parker, who previously worked at Southampton, Lewes and Portuguese club SC Uniao Torreense, hopes he can help the club keep progressing.

“It was great to break the points total last season,” said the 37-year-old. “We know how competitive the Championship is, especially now with two teams getting relegated.

“It’s just a really exciting time to be here, to be involved in Blackburn but also in the league. I want to help with the history and help us progress to another level.

“Being fully embedded in the Academy and with the club, and even playing games at Ewood Park and the change in where we play our home matches. This is all a really positive step and hopefully we can have a really positive future.”
