Former Burnley captain Tom Heaton has been linked with a reunion with Sean Dyche at Everton.

The Toffees are looking to bolster their goalkeeping ranks following the departure of Asmir Beogvic and have “made an enquiry” over Heaton’s services, according to The Mirror.

United are said to have blocked an approach for the 27-year-old from newly-promoted Luton earlier this summer.

Heaton joined the Clarets on a free transfer from Bristol City in the summer of 2013 and went on to make 200 appearances during a memorable six-year spell at Turf Moor.

The goalkeeper was part of two promoting-winning squads under Dyche in 2014 and 2016, playing key roles in both seasons.

He also featured against Olympiakos in the Europa League qualifying rounds in 2018, having missed the ties against Aberdeen and Istanbul Basaksehir through injury.

Heaton made the move to Aston Villa in the summer of 2019 but his time at the Midlands club was impacted by injuries.

He returned to Manchester United two years later and made a couple of appearances in the Carabao Cup last term.

The experienced shot stopper also won three England caps during his time in East Lancashire and was part of Roy Hodgson’s Euro 2016 squad.

Dyche kept Everton in the top flight last season following a dramatic win against Bournemouth on the final day.

The former Burnley boss is set to return to Turf Moor on Saturday, December 16 when his Everton side face the Clarets. The reverse fixture is currently scheduled for Saturday, April 6 at Goodison Park.

Meanwhile, Vincent Kompany's side will face La Liga club Real Betis in a pre-season friendly on Friday, July 28. The fixture will take place in the Spanish city of Huelva.
