Rovers have rebuffed the early advances of Luton Town who are interested in a move for Thomas Kaminski.

The Premier League new boys are in need of goalkeeping reinforcements after turning down the opportunity to sign loanee Ethan Horvath permanently from Nottingham Forest.

They have since been linked with a host of goalkeepers, including Kaminski who has been with Rovers since 2020.

Bids are understood to have been tabled for the Belgian, but none reaching more than seven figures, which is someway short of Rovers’ valuation.

It is understood that Rovers would want between £3m and £4m were they to allow  Kaminski, who has two years left to run on his contract, leave this summer.

He has proven to be a consistent performer across his 118 appearances since joining from KAA Gent in the summer of 2020 for a fee of around £450,000.

That has ensured Kaminski has been around the Belgian national squad ever since his move to Ewood, although that could come under threat should he start the upcoming season as he finished the last.

That was out of the side as Jon Dahl Tomasson stuck with Aynsley Pears post the March international break, despite Kaminski’s return to fitness after two months out with a knee problem.

Pears was then rewarded for his displays further with a new four-year contract which raised questions about Kaminski’s long-term future.

Rovers have stressed that having two goalkeepers competing for the No.1 spot is what they want, and are in no rush to lose the 30-year-old.

The club have admitted however that outgoings would be required were they to spend this summer, while it was the sale of a goalkeeper in David Raya in 2019 that was used to help fund the arrival of striker Sam Gallagher.

Rovers have so far made three signings without spending a fee, and that would have to continue unless they can recoup funds.

However, any potential deal for Kaminski with Luton looks a way off given their difference in valuations currently.

Kaminski, who made some impressive stops in the pre-season friendly against Accrington Stanley, has travelled with the squad to Austria.

Interest from his native Belgium, and Anderlecht in particular, had been expected but that is yet to materialise.

Speaking after the opening friendly at the Wham Stadium, Jon Dahl Tomasson said no outgoings were in the pipeline.

“I don’t think so,” he said.

“I don’t have the biggest squad so we can’t just be giving players away.

“Quality players, sorry, they cost money and I don’t want to lose any of my players.

“There will probably be players going on loan in their development which is development but at this moment it’s early days.”
