Burnley defender Ameen Al-Dakhil made his Belgium senior debut during the 1-1 draw against Austria.

The 21-year-old centre-back came off the bench for the final six minutes, replacing Leander Dendoncker.

Austria took the lead midway through the first half when Orel Mangala deflected Michael Gregoritsch’s effort past Thibaut Courtois.

But Belgium hit back after the break through Chelsea forward Romelu Lukaku, providing a clinical finish after receiving the ball with his back to goal.

Al-Dakhil joined Burnley from Sint-Truidense during the January window, signing a three-and-a-half-year deal at Turf Moor.

The youngster made 13 appearances for the Clarets during the second half of last season as Vincent Kompany’s men clinched the Championship title and secured an immediate return to the top flight.

He has previously represented his country at Under-21 level and was handed a first senior call-up after making a positive impression in East Lancashire.

Belgium currently sit second in Group F as they aim to book their place in next summer’s European Championship in Germany.

Domenico Tedesco’s side are back in action on Tuesday night when they make the trip to Estonia (7.45pm).

Mike Tresor, who has been linked with a move to Turf Moor this summer, also came off the bench against Austria.

The 24-year-old attacking midfielder won the Player of the Year award in the Belgian top flight last season after getting eight goals and 21 assists in 34 appearances.

Earlier this month, Tresor told Het Laatste Nieuws: “I have learned that he (Kompany) appreciates my qualities. Of course, that is nice to hear.

“He plays with Burnley with a certain philosophy in which I would feel good. For me, playing style has always been important when choosing a club.”

He added: “I do think my future will be discussed in the coming months. Those conversations will have to show what is best for Genk and for myself.

“I am not saying that I am necessarily done in Belgium. I still have a lot to learn anyway, and I have to keep taking steps.”

Several other Premier League sides have been credited with interest in his services including Brighton and Brentford.
