Bradley Dack is to leave Rovers at the end of his contract, the club have announced.

Rovers have opted against taking up the one-year option in Dack’s deal which will now see him leave this summer in what will be an emotional farewell.

The fans’ favourite will depart after 173 appearances and 57 goals, and six years at Ewood Park.

Dack, who signed from Gillingham for £750,000 following Rovers’ relegation to League One, proved to be a huge part of the club’s success on the pitch, and a key figure off it.

He is the second high profile departure of the summer, after Ben Brereton confirmed he will be leaving at the end of his contract to join La Liga side Villarreal.

The 29-year-old was used off the bench in the final stages against Millwall last week in what proved to be his farewell appearance.

Dack will now face a search for a new club after his six years association with Rovers comes to an end.

He scored seven times in 33 appearances in his final season with the club, his last goal at Watford in February bringing up a half century of league goals in Rovers colours.

Dack netted 18 times to help Rovers to promotion from League One in his debut season and was later named as the division's player of the year.

He finished the 2018/19 season with the same amount, including 15 in his first season at Championship level.

Double figures were again reached in the first half of the 2019/20 campaign, only to suffer the first of two ACL injuries against Wigan Athletic in December 2019.

Dack returned to action a year later, signing a new deal when doing so, but just as he looked to be getting back to his best, he suffered the same devasting injury to his opposite knee in March 2021.

That again kept him out for a year, before returning to score his 50th Rovers goal against Coventry City in April 2022.

Injury saw him feature just once last pre-season, scoring in the friendly win at Lincoln City, as he did in his first two starts of the 2022/23 campaign when he captained the side in Carabao Cup wins over Hartlepool United and Bradford City.

He began to establish himself in the side after the World Cup break, scoring five times in a 12-game period before limping out of the 1-0 win over Swansea City on February 18 with a hamstring injury.

Dack then finished the season with four substitute appearances, which included the closing stages of the final day win at Millwall.
