Bradley Dack believes he can help cure Rovers’ goalscoring troubles with more minutes on the pitch.

Dack scored three times in five Championship matches to start 2023, but two injury absences since have restricted him to a little more than one half of football as a substitute in the last two months.

Jon Dahl Tomasson turned to Dack, who has seven goals this season, soon after Luton Town’s opener on Monday, and the 29-year-old feels he can still have a part to play.

That comes amid Rovers’ struggles for points and goals, with only five of each in the last eight games.

“It’s frustrating, especially when you feel like you can help the team,” Dack said of his time on the sidelines.

“I will always back myself to score goals and if I was playing I would feel like I could score.

“It’s disappointing, but that’s the manager’s decision and if I’m called upon then I will try and help the team.”

At 29, Dack is one of Rovers’ more experienced players, with two promotions under his belt, including for Rovers in 2017/18.

With a young and inexperienced squad he feels he can pass some of that knowledge onto the rest of the squad who he has told to seize the opportunity infront of them.

Rovers head to Millwall on Monday looking to extend their season beyond the final day, but will need three points, as well as other results to go their way.

“I try to,” he said of using his experience.

“I’ve been involved in two promotions in my career and it’s making the point that they don’t come around often.

“I think this is my 12th season and I’ve only had two and the first one was my first year as a pro.

“I thought that I would definitely get more and I’ve only had one since.

“It’s about making that point that you have to take your chance.

“I think a club of this size should be fighting to get into the Premier League, and should be in really, and hopefully we can get that done.”

Dack admits there is a mixture of nerves and excitement within the dressing room with what is at stake.

He told RoversTV: “We’ve done well, the boys are excited because these are the games you want to be in.

“Obviously we’d have wanted to get it done earlier and knew what was coming, but that’s how the season has gone.

“You can be a little bit nervous, it’s always good to be a little bit nervous, but you have to enjoy it.

“You want to be playing at the top end of the league than the bottom, they are the ones who have the real pressure games to survive and stay in the league.

“Everyone should be excited and hopefully we can put in a performance and go to The Den and see what happens.”
