Blackburn Rovers' Brett Emerton may succumb to the lure of a celebration match in front of his home crowd next Sunday at ANZ Stadium, despite craving time off from a club-and-country schedule.
Two goals from Emerton and a clincher from Harry Kewell were enough to see off Qatar and ensure the Socceroos go through to the next stage of World Cup qualification With the final group fixture against China now a dead rubber, two-goal hero Emerton was one of the players expected to be given a break after racking up 41 games this season.
"It's been a long, hard season and we will just have to wait and see whether I make myself available," he said.
