ARON Pollard produced arguably the performance of the day as he helped basement boys Colne to a seven-wicket win over Rishton.

The 22-year-old right-hander made 130 from 132 balls at Blackburn Road, combining with professional Blake Snijman (78) to put on an opening double century stand of 206.

Rishton captain Andy Bartley had earlier made 80 and professional Saeed Anwar 82 towards a total of 216 for five.

But the partnership of Pollard and Snijman virtually sealed the victory, condeming Rishton to their sixth defeat of the season.

Rawtenstall took over at the top of the table with an 83-run victory as they handed Nelson a first defeat of the season.

Things had looked promising for the home side early on when they reduced Rawtenstall to 19-3 - the pick of the early wickets being Sam Halstead, who removed Nathan McCullum for just one during an impressive spell of bowling.

But Chris Cook-Martin helped to steady the ship with 38 in a fourth wicket stand of 64 with Peter Seal, who had a knock of 42 before being bowled by Danny Clegg.

And an eighth wicket stand of 41 between Andy Riley and Afrus Ali helped to take Rawtenstall to a more reasonable looking 168-9.

Again Nelson started well with Kegg (20) and Sean Lemon (22), before McCullum struck with his first wicket of the day.

Andy Payne removed McMillan and, after a couple of run-outs, McCullum took care of the rest to finish with figures of 6-28.

Rawtenstall were accompanied at the top by Accrington, who scored a five-run win over Burnley thanks, in no small part, to a half century from professional Roy Silva.

The visitors went in to bat first, but found themselves restricted by Paul Carroll 4-33. Sky TV pundit David Lloyd picked up a catch off Qasim Ali and wicket keeper Matt Wilson claimed five victims.

Church picked up their third win of the season at Bacup, with a 146-run win.

Opener Alec Holt top scored with 89, while professional Niel Bredenkamp added 90 and with Sagawat Hussain also chipping in with 18.

In an amazing match at Bentgate, East Lancs recovered from 89-9 to beat Haslingden, who could not separate the duo of Mark Bolton (54) and David Turner (34).

Ramsbottom's opening bowler Mike Haslam showed he was feeling no ill-effects from last week's injury at Haslingden by claiming five wickets in Rammy's 41-run win over Todmorden at Centre Vale.

Chris Read had earlier top scored for the visitors with 54.

And Lowerhouse move up to seventh place after an 80 run win over Enfield at Liverpool Road.

But they had to thank professional Brendan Drew (108) and Hassan Khan (64), who helped set the visitors an imposing target of 238.
